City of Elkton – Elkton, Oregon
A Community Invested in its Natural Resources
Elkton is surrounded by many beautiful natural resources from our vast Douglas fir forests to the meeting of Elk Creek and the Main Umpqua River.
Check out Fort Umpqua at the Elkton Community Education Center at the west end of the city. This was the southern most outpost of the Hudson Bay Company and represented the British claim on the Oregon Territory during western expansion. The original fort was constructed in 1936 on the south bank of the Umpqua River near the mouth of Elk Creek. The current replica started construction in 2006.
Elkton is proud to be home of one of the newest AVAs in Oregon. Our cool-climate grapes are grown in local vineyards, produced in our local wineries, and stamped with the Elkton Oregon AVA on each bottle. Following are links to some of our area vineyards and wineries.
