Fort Umpqua

Check out Fort Umpqua at the Elkton Community Education Center at the west end of the city.  This was the southern most outpost of the Hudson Bay Company and represented the British claim on the Oregon Territory during western expansion.  The original fort was constructed in 1936 on the south bank of the Umpqua River near the mouth of Elk Creek.  The current replica started construction in 2006.

There is so much to see and do in Elkton! The Mighty Umpqua River is home to a variety of fish for the angler’s enjoyment, and the surrounding forests are filled with deer and elk to challenge the hunter. Contact our guides for more information.
